Kids Heart Piano - Share the joy of music!
Meet the Teacher

Hi, my name is Angela Pirillo and I am a Piano Teacher offering Beginning and Intermediate Piano Lessons in Pagosa and its surrounding neighborhoods. I will travel to you!

Having previously taught 31 wonderful piano students each week, I have learned so much about teaching piano, I've gotten so much inspiration from my students, and I think it is the best job on Earth! It's so rewarding to see the joy and confidence children experience as they move forward in their musical journey.

Mission Statement
In the process of teaching piano lessons, my goal is essentially to teach children to play music beautifully with their heart and soul, and to instill in them a lifelong love for music.

What is the Journey About?

Learning to play music will help your child in so many ways, but it will also be a very enjoyable activity. I love to make piano lessons FUN, while still having a good amount of structure too. I aim to start children learning classical pieces to ensure a good foundation, but I also love to have them choose which pieces or songs they would like to play. The more they like what they are playing, the more they enjoy what they are doing and the more they want to practice!

As you will see on the Lesson Layout page, I try to incorporate a variety of activities such as Jamming, Rhythm,Finger Exercises, Chords, Theory, Play Alongs, and a Project Piece. All of these activities will give your child a well-rounded musical foundation and a great musical experience.

Every child is unique and I always do my best to tailor the lesson to each individual. Each child learns at their own pace and I respect that. Rate of mastery will depend on how much kids are able, or driven to practice each week. This will also happen with the help of the parent/guardian and the teacher, both providing a nurturing environment for the child to grow.

Discovery
Every once in awhile, I take time to include other instruments in the lesson including bongo drums, ukulele, or guitar. A few of my former students wanted to learn guitar and piano so with the permission of the parents I taught them both. A couple students learned ukulele and piano and this is a good option to do before guitar because the strings are easier on the fingers and the frets are easier to reach.
